General Information

Bruton High School is a member of the Virginia High School League.  The Virginia High School League (VHSL) is an alliance of Virginia's 317 public high schools providing quality student activities and athletics. VHSL programs are an extension of the classroom and provide students with an opportunity to develop teamwork and leadership skills, to learn the importance of sportsmanship, ethics and integrity, and to become better citizens.

BHS is currently in the Bay Rivers District, Region A, Div 2  under the new VHSL Classification system for most sports.   Region 2A is currently comprised of: Amelia/ Arcadia/ Bluestone/ Brunswick/ Bruton/ Greensville/ John Marshall/ King William/ Nadua/ Nottoway/ Poquoson/ Prince Edward/ Randolph Henry/ Windsor. The BRD is comprised of Bruton/ Grafton/ Jamestown/ Lafayette/ New Kent/ Poquoson/ Smithfield/ Tabb/ Warhill/ York.

BHS  was formerly in the AA / Region 1 / Bay Rivers District / Division 3 classification under the VHSL.  We offer over 20 sports teams, most with both a varsity and junior varsity level.  We also offer several academic competition programs under the VHSL program.
